Fun day to kick off new life for revamped sports facility
A REVAMPED sports pavilion was opening its doors to the public this morning following a £1 million overhaul.
The accommodation at Colinton Mains Park includes six changing rooms with showers, officials’ changing areas, a first aid room, toilets and a car park.
The project completes a wider redevelopment of the park, which included the construction of new full-size and seven-a-side football pitches, new footpaths and lighting, new children’s playground, youth shelter and kickabout area.
This morning’s official opening was to feature a performance by the band Scottish Pipes and African Drums, followed by a community fun day run by AC Oxgangs and Firrhill Community Council.
Culture and leisure convener, Richard Lewis, who was cutting the ribbon, said: “I know the local community and sports clubs share our excitement about the benefits this will bring to the area.”
