GRAMPIAN Police today released CCTV images of two men they want to trace as the force launched a renewed appeal for witnesses to a sex attack in Fraserburgh last summer.

A woman was sexually assaulted on Sunday, 10 June, in an incident in the Broadsea area of the town.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “The force has now issued CCTV pictures of two men they are keen to speak to who may have witnessed the incident or have further information.”

Detective Inspector Kevin Goldie, who is heading the investigation, said: “We are grateful to those who have come forward following our original public appeal however we are now appealing to the wider community for their assistance in identifying two potential witnesses to the assault.

“We have released these CCTV images in the hope that either the men themselves or someone who recognises them will come forward to us.”

He continued: “The first man featured in the CCTV images is described as in his 30s, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, stocky build, with very short dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket or a thick dark blue jumper.

“The second man is described as in his 30s, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 9ins tall, average/proportionate build, with a shaved head. He was wearing a dark waist length jacket and blue jeans.”

Det Insp Goldie stressed: “This type of incident is extremely rare in Fraserburgh and in Aberdeenshire more generally. Aberdeenshire is among the safest places to live and work in the country and the public can be assured that when incidents like this do occur our officers are dedicated to bringing those responsible to justice.”

Anyone who believes they can identify the men pictured in the images, or who may have any further information regarding the incident, is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.
