France tunes into Scotland
A CELTIC festival in France - which is receiving £286,000 in support from the Scottish Executive - will be a major showcase for a modern, outward-looking Scotland, the culture minister said yesterday. Linda Fabiani said the festival in Lorient, Brittany, is "huge" in France.
She added: "Already Scotland is all over the French media in the run-up."
The Lorient festival is expected to draw 750,000 visitors and 3,500 musicians. The 37th Festival Interceltique has declared 2007 the Year of Scotland.
