Four led to safety during tenement fire
Firefighters led four people to safety after fire broke out at a tenement flat in Marchmont.
Three people received medical attention after the blaze, which broke out on the ground floor of a five-storey tenement in Marchmont Crescent at around 2.20pm yesterday.
The crew gave safety advice to residents in the upper floors of the building, who were unable to leave because the stairwell filled with smoke.
They used breathing apparatus and a turntable ladder to make contact with the residents and advised them to block their doors with duvets and pillows.
The fire was extinguished using six breathing apparatus, a hose reel and small tools.
Ambulance crews gave first aid to three people, but they did not need to go to hospital.
An investigation is underway in to the cause of the blaze.
