Four injured in weekend of violence

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses after four men were injured in separate assaults in Bonnyrigg at the weekend.

About 11.45pm on Friday night, a 43-year-old man was assaulted in Dundas Street. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary initially, but was transferred to St John’s Hospital for treatment to facial injuries and has since been discharged. The man has no recollection of the assault. In another incident, three men were injured following a disturbance in a bar in Waverley Terrace about 7.15pm on Sunday.

A 21-year-old man suffered a fractured shoulder, a 26-year-old man received stitches for a cut to the head, and a 26-year-old man was treated for minor injuries.

A police spokesman said: “At the moment we are keeping an open mind but there is a chance these incidents may be linked. We are appealing for anyone who may have seen either of these incidents to get in touch on 0131-311 3131.”
