Football fan ‘caused fear’

Fan invaded pitch at Falkirk Stadium

Fan invaded pitch at Falkirk Stadium

A FOOTBALL fan has been accused of causing police to fear for the safety of spectators.

Philip McGregor, of Tryst Park, Fairmilehead, was charged with running on to the pitch during Falkirk’s home match against Dunfermline Athletic on October 6 this year.

The 18-year-old denied the charge when he appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday.

The charge accused him of disorderly conduct at the Falkirk Stadium by jumping over a barrier on to the field of play.

It then alleges that he ran towards players on the pitch, placing police officers in a state of fear and alarm for the safety of spectators.

McGregor was banned from any regulated football match while he awaits trial.

The match was watched by Falkirk’s biggest home crowd of the year.
