Folk festival 'at risk' after funding blow
ORGANISERS of Scotland's second biggest folk festival may be forced to cancel next year's event amid a cash crisis.
The Stonehaven Folk Festival, now in its 20th year, attracts an estimated 5,000 folk fans to the Kincardine town, boosting the local economy.
This summer's four-day event will be headlined by Barbara Dickson, Eddi Reader and the Battlefield Band.
But organisers yesterday disclosed they were facing a possible deficit of 8,000 on July's festival after failing to get "crucial" funding of around 4,000 from the Scottish Art Council.
