Flat fire caused by chip pan
TWO students were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at a block of flats.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said the service was called at around 1:20pm yesterday to the block in Nicolson Street, in the centre of Edinburgh. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze, which was caused by a chip pan.
Two men, believed to be in their early twenties, were given oxygen at the scene by ambulance staff, but neither had to go to hospital.
The building houses students from the University of Edinburgh.
