Five rescued from blaze at Glasgow city centre takeaway
Firefighters tackled the blaze
FIVE people were rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out at a city centre takeaway in Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street last night.
Crews were called to the shop at 9.40pm.
Once there, they found the blaze was “well-developed” and had got into the ventilation system.
Two engines from Maryhill, as well as crews from Yorkhill and Cowcaddens, worked to put out the blaze.
Five people were led to safety from the three floors of occupied flats above the premises, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service said.
The ambulance service attended the incident but no injuries were reported.
Fire crews left the scene shortly before 1am this morning.
A investigation into the cause of the blaze is being carried out by the fire service and Strathclyde Police.
