Five charged after Musselburgh drug raids
FIVE people have been charged after police recovered heroin and amphetamine in a series of raids.
Officers searched a 33-year-old man in Esk Side West, Musselburgh, on Monday and recovered a small quantity of heroin believed to be for personal use. He is to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on drug charges.
On Tuesday, a woman was searched in Stoneybank Crescent, Musselburgh, and heroin worth more than £600 and a three-figure sum of cash were found. The 37-year-old also faces court.
A search in Coalgate Avenue, Tranent, on Wednesday uncovered 250g of heroin valued at £25,000 and £1500 worth of amphetamine. Two men, aged 22 and 47, and a 43-year-old woman are to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Thursday.
Chief Inspector Colin Brown said: “Operation Ergot continues to remove these harmful substances from the streets.”
