First new tram is a hot ticket
ALMOST 2,000 people visited Edinburgh's first new tram yesterday.
The 143ft vehicle – as long as three buses – is on display from 11am to 6pm daily in Princes Street between the Mound and Frederick Street.
A total of 1,867 visitors visited the site yesterday. It is the first tram in the capital since the old system was axed in 1956.
Meanwhile, buses, taxis and cycles will be able to travel westbound on Shandwick Place from Saturday pending resolution of a dispute over track laying. Some pedestrian crossings and parking will also be restored.
