Firm submits garage plans

A DEVELOPER is set to build 27 new flats on the site of a former garage under plans submitted to council chiefs.

Haddington Developments has put forward a planning application to create the development on land at Victoria Bridge in Haddington.

The site is home to the former Ideal Garage, which would be demolished to make way for the new project.

The developer has been involved in discussions with the local authority over demolishing the garage, which dates back to at least the early 1960s.

The development would be four storeys high, and would also include a retail area.

The flats would be made available as part of the council’s new-build for social rent programme. The proposals, submitted last month, are set to be considered by East Lothian Council at a future meeting.
