Firefighters rescue man under bus

A MAN has been described as “extremely lucky” to be alive after having to be rescued from under a bus as he returned from his 50th birthday celebrations.

Firefighters were called at about 1.35am yesterday after the man fell under the vehicle in Learmonth Terrace, off Queensferry Road.

The man, who was an unidentified guest at the Learmonth Hotel, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance before checking out less than three hours later.

It is understood he escaped the drama with only a suspected fractured arm and bruising to his chest.

Police said they were unable to confirm how the man had ended up under the bus or the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Learmonth Hotel receptionist Diane Carney said: “He’s quite lucky because apparently the bus went right over him. He could be dead.”
