Fire at former council office
FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at a former council office block last night.
Lammermuir House in Owen Square, Dedridge, West Lothian, was reported to be alight just before 8pm and there were initially fears that people were inside the abandoned building.
Fifty firefighters rushed to the scene and searched all three floors, but it was found to be empty. The fire was contained to the first floor, and out by 10:30pm.
Lammermuir House was used by West Lothian Council staff until late last year, when staff were moved to the Civic Centre in Livingston. The fire service could not yet comment on the fire's cause.
