Final blowout for summer school pipers

Aspiring pipers and drummers are looking forward to a concert to celebrate the finale of the Pipe to the Beat Summer School 2012.

Hosted by West Lothian Council, Friday’s event will take place in Deans Community High School, in Livingston, and will feature tutors from the summer school along with headline act, the ScottishPower Pipe Band, led by Pipe Major Chris Armstrong.

The leading Grade 1 Pipe Band, which has retained its title of top Scottish band at both the Scottish Pipe Band Championships and the British Pipe Band Championships, will perform for the audience.

Gordon Bruce, a bagpipe instructor at West Lothian Council, said: “The contribution of the ScottishPower Pipe Band as headline act in the Pipe to the Beat Concert is a fantastic addition to our summer holiday programme.”
