Films by city animators set for screening

A RETROSPECTIVE of films from an Edinburgh animation studio is to be screened in the Capital later this year.

The three selected films have been chosen to chart the development of Ko Lik Films, set up by animators Cameron Fraser and Neil Jack, over the past five years.

This includes their BAFTA-award winning first film The Tree Officer, as well as the international festival favourite Ujbaz Izbeneki Has Lost His Soul.

The event will also show their first broadcast commission for BBC Scotland, Haunted Hogmanay, which saw their studio in Leith filled with puppets and a replica of Edinburgh Castle.

The two founders of Ko Lik Films will be on hand following the screenings to answer questions from the audience.

The event will also feature work from friends and colleagues of the pair, including Bafta New Talent award-winner Julia MacLean, who has worked on the two BBC films, Bill Elliot, who recently directed the company's first 2D advert, and Michael Hughes, an animator who has worked on all of their films.

The mini-retrospective will be held on Wednesday, 29 July, at the Edinburgh Filmhouse, as part of it's Made in Edinburgh season.
