Feta insists it will remain in control of Forth Road Bridge

FETA has insisted it will remain the independent authority in charge of the Forth Road Bridge, despite proposed changes to its management structure.

The quango is in talks with the Scottish Government over a plan to have it report into Transport Scotland instead of straight to the government.

A spokesman for FETA said: "Since the abolition of tolls, FETA has been directly funded by the Scottish Government, and officials from both organisations have met regularly to discuss operational and grant funding issues. Scottish Government officials have asked FETA to consider how these monitoring and liaison meetings can best be taken forward.

"There is nothing which would seek to change FETA's status as an independent bridge authority, nor does this discussion affect the agreed levels of grant funding in the current spending period."

A Scottish Government spokesman added: "There are no plans to change the status, structure, roles or responsibilities of FETA."
