Festival role lands Jimmy Yuill awards nod

ACTOR Jimmy Yuill has been nominated for the prestigious Critic's Awards for Theatre in Scotland for his performance at last year's Festival.

The TV and stage star was praised for his role in The Testament of Cresseid.

The play, an adaptation of a Robert Henryson poem, was directed by David Levin and received its world premiere at The Hub last year.

Yuill is competing against The Government's Inspector's John Bett, The Dark Things' Brian Ferguson and The Elephant Man's Kevin Merrick for the Best Male Actors award in the Scottish theatre awards.

The winner will be announced at the Festival Theatre on June 13.
