Festival axed over park difficulties

A COMMUNITY festival has been cancelled after organisers were unable to reach new management at the host park for permission to hold the event.

The North Edinburgh Community Festival, due to take place at the end of the month, was scrapped after a change in the factor management company at Forthquarter Park.

Organisers say there has also been a drop in volunteers from last year and a reduction in the number of organisations wishing to take part.

Committee member Ann Confrey said: “There will be a committee meeting in November where we will be looking at how we can resolve these issues and involve the community more to motivate them to get involved and make sure it goes ahead next year. We hope to learn lessons from what’s happened this year.”

The annual event was due to take place on September 29.
