Ferry firm is bringing more visitors over

THE operators of the recently re-launched Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry crossing say they have seen a rise in the ratio of passengers travelling to Scotland.

Dutch firm Norfolkline, which took over the service in May after the previous firm pulled out, say there are now equal levels of passengers travelling to and from Scotland, compared to under the previous operator, when just 40 per cent of passengers were coming to Rosyth.

The firm said overall passenger numbers were in line with its forecasts for the summer season.

Norfolkline route director Bas van Helden said: "All indications are that the route is welcomed. This remains a vital economic link between Scotland and the Continent."

He added: "We are buoyed by the fact that the first three months have been successful in terms of the service we provide, the reliability of the schedule and the way customers on both sides have embraced and used the route."
