Fags and alcohol bought for underage kids to stop bullying

A MOTHER bought alcohol and cigarettes for children in a bid to stop them bullying her.

Nicola Gray, from Tranent, East Lothian, claimed she bought the drink and cigarettes for three under-age teenagers who were making her family’s life a misery.

Haddington Sheriff Court heard Gray’s young family were being bullied by local children and she decided to give in to their demands in an effort to appease them.

Mum-of-two Gray, 31, pleaded guilty to buying alcohol and cigarettes on three separate occasions for three under-age children in
February.

Defence solicitor Mary Moultree said her client had been convicted for a similar offence in 2011.

Sheriff Peter Braid fined Gray £100 for buying alcohol and giving it to a young girl, but admonished her on the two other charges.
