Eyes have
it for the
zoo’s lorises

With their huge round eyes and cheeky faces, Edinburgh Zoo’s latest arrivals are sure to prove popular.

The pair of Pygmy Slow Lorises, a male and a female, are a year old and came from Lille Zoo in France.

The tree-living primates are found in the forests of Laos, Vietnam, China and Cambodia. Today, they are classed as a vulnerable species threatened by habitat loss, the pet trade and medicine.

Lorna Hughes, primate team leader at the zoo, said: “We’re delighted to welcome this rare nocturnal breed.”
