Exhibition to focus on Wheel

AN exhibition by leading Edinburgh-based architects RMJM charting the progress of the Falkirk Wheel is being held this month.

The event - at the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland’s gallery in Rutland Square in the Capital until June 28 - details the development of the Wheel from its conception through to reality.

RMJM, which is also in charge of the new Scottish Parliament building, is behind the creation of the world’s first rotating boatlift, designed to connect the Union Canal with the Forth & Clyde Canal.

It forms part of the Millennium Link Project, a 74 million investment to create an inland waterway across the Central Belt.

The Wheel was opened by the Queen last month.

The exhibition has been curated by Tony Kettles, of RMJM, and includes models, drawings and 3D computer animations.

The display is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.
