Ex-minister Alexander returns from wilderness
WENDY Alexander has returned from the political wilderness and will lead one of Holyrood's most important committees, it emerged yesterday.
The former enterprise minister has been limited to the back-benches since 2001.
However, she is expected to become convener of the finance committee after being nominated for the role by Jack McConnell, the First Minister.
The MSP for Paisley North, who is the mother of twins, is also expected to play a prominent role in the run-up to next May's election alongside her younger brother, Douglas, the Scottish Secretary.
A spokesman for the First Minister said: "Wendy is keen to get involved in frontline politics again and the First Minister has been speaking to her.
"She was the obvious choice for Labour's nomination for chair of the finance committee, and she is also going to play a more active role in Labour's election campaign. This is all good for the parliament and good for Labour."
