Ex-transport chief takes on finance role
THE man in charge of Edinburgh's controversial tram scheme has officially taken control of the city council's finances.
Lib Dem councillor Phil Wheeler has swapped roles with the city's finance leader Gordon Mackenzie.
Revealed by the Evening News, the change was instigated after Cllr Wheeler was criticised for his handling of the trams project.
Councillor Mackenzie, a board member of tram firm TIE and chairman of the council's development arm EDI, has been credited with getting the council's finances on track, while Cllr Wheeler had a 30-year career with RBS.
