A STEAK house lottery syndicate has scooped a £1 million jackpot in the EuroMillions Raffle.
The group of 31 customers and waiting staff from Berlinos Steak House in Berwick-on-Tweed won £32,258 each in Friday’s draw.
The group’s leader, Jim Gladstone, 72, said: “I had no idea we had won anything until I took the tickets to the local Morrisons. The woman behind the till started running them through the machine and gave me £10.30 worth of winnings.
“It wasn’t until she ran the last ticket through that she asked me to come to one side. She whispered that the machine had informed her that whatever we had won, it was too much for the shop to pay out and that I should contact Camelot for more information. I went home and called Camelot to discover we had won the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle.”
They later met at the restaurant for a celebratory meal.
