England rugby star drops in at college

FORMER England rugby star Matt Dawson is to visit students at Oatridge College in West Lothian this week.

He will officially open the college’s recently refurbished refectory, the Eating Place, on Friday in his role as ambassador for catering firm Sodexo.

The team captain on BBC quiz A Question of Sport will then give a speech and present awards during the annual student prizegiving.

An audience of staff, students, families and friends will also hear from Professor Bob Webb, principal of the Scottish Agricultural College, who will, from October 1, take charge of the institution set up following the merger of Scotland’s land-based colleges.

David James, the principal of the Oatridge, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Professor Webb to Oatridge and look forward to hearing his vision of the future of land-based education in Scotland.”
