Elderly woman in hospital after being knocked down by car
The pensioner was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy
An elderly woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being knocked down by a car outside a library.
The 75-year-old was hit by the vehicle as she walked her two dogs in High Street, Leslie, Fife, at about 5.40am.
She was taken by ambulance to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy with serious head and chest injuries.
An ambulance spokeswoman said an off-duty police officer was at the scene when the accident happened outside the town’s library and he directed traffic while emergency services cared for the pensioner.
Inspector Brenda Sinclair, from Fife Constabulary, said: “The road will be closed for some time while an investigation takes place.
“If anyone saw a woman walking with two dogs in Leslie this morning, or saw the accident, please contact police.”
