Dynamic Earth enters space race with new video dome
A NEW "video dome" allowing people to get a unique tour of space has been launched at Edinburgh's Our Dynamic Earth.
The new 360 degree full-dome film technology is being launched with screenings of a groundbreaking new film, We Are Astronomers, narrated by Doctor Who's David Tennant.
Created in celebration of the International Year of Astronomy, the film takes visitors on a quest to uncover the secrets of far-off galaxies.
It is being shown inside Our Dynamic Earth's FutureDome, a digital planetarium featuring state of the art computer graphics and surround sound.
Developed in part by the science communication team at the centre, the film has been specifically designed to immerse the audience in a world of exotic galaxies.
Catriona Cardie, marketing director at Our Dynamic Earth said: "We are incredibly excited to be the only Scottish venue to screen We Are Astronomers, a true 'wow factor' for visitors and fantastic showcase for our sophisticated new dome projection technology."
