Duo hunted after random attack on man on footpath

TWO attackers are being hunted after a man was assaulted while walking along a footpath.

The 20-year-old was walking between the old railway line and Rosewell Road in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, on Wednesday night, when he was forced to the ground.

A struggle ensued before both attackers made off and detectives are now urging anyone with information about the incident – which took place at the steps near Cockpen View at 7pm – to come forward.

The first suspect is described as white, in his 30s with a medium build and a bald head. He was wearing a black zipper jacket with puffed arms and light-blue jeans.

The second suspect is described as white with dark hair and wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Steven Smith said: “It seems to be a random and unprovoked attack.”

Those with information can contact police on 0131-311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
