Dundee teenager victim of sex attack in woods

TAYSIDE Police have launched a manhunt after a teenage girl was the victim of a sex attack in a wood in Dundee.

The 16 year-old girl was sexually assaulted after being approached by the man in the Charleston area of the city last night.

The attack took place around 11.20pm in a small wooded area on South Road, near its junction with Arran Drive. Following the assault the man ran off up a path towards Menzieshill.

A force spokesman said: “Police in Dundee are appealing for information after a 16 year-old girl was sexually assaulted last night in the Charleston area of the city. The incident happened at about 11.20pm in a small wooded area on South Road, near to its junction with Arran Drive, when the teenager was approached by a man and sexually assaulted.

“He then ran off up a pathway towards Menzieshill leaving his victim uninjured but extremely distressed.”

The man being sought is described as “smelling dirty”, in his 20s, 5ft 10 ins tall, stocky, with a Dundee accent.

The Tayside Police spokesman said: “At the time he wore a black hooded top, black trousers and black-coloured shoes. Police enquiries began at the scene last night and are continuing today, with offices carrying out further forensic examination at the scene and door to door enquiries. A review of CCTV coverage is also underway.

“Tayside Police would appeal to anyone who was in the area or who has information that could assist enquiries to contact the force.”
