Drunk driver turns herself in to police after driving down M8

A DRINK driver has been banned for a year after telephoning police from the M8 and turning herself in.

Rachel Potter, 44, from Bathgate, parked up on the hard shoulder of the motorway in the early hours of the morning when she realised she was over the limit, Livingston Sheriff Court was told.

Prosecutor Aidan Higgins said: “She phoned the police and said ‘can you please come out and deal with me? I think I’m over the limit for driving’.”

Sheriff Douglas Kinloch told her: “This is bizarre.”

Ms Potter, who pleaded guilty, was also fined £200.
