Drugs worth £3.5m seized in two raids
DRUGS with an estimated street value of more than £3.5 million were recovered by police during a weekend raid.
Officers from Strathclyde Police found cocaine, diamorphine and cannabis resin worth an estimated £1.5m at a property in Galloway Road, East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, at about 3:25pm on Friday. Two men, aged 54 and 27, were arrested and are in police custody.
On Saturday, as part of the same operation, about 240kg of cannabis resin, worth an estimated £2m, was recovered from a property in the town’s Pembroke area.
A man, 31, and a 34-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the find and are in police custody.
Detective Superintendent Andy Gunn, of Strathclyde Police’s major crime investigation unit, said: “We will take every opportunity to detect and arrest those who profit from flooding the streets with drugs and the associated misery that is inflicted on our communities.”
