Drug grower allowed police search of home

A CANNABIS smoker allowed police to search his house without a warrant after they spotted drug paraphernalia in his living room.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that officers found a mini cannabis farm along with growing equipment in the bedrooms of John Wardlaw’s Armadale
home.

Mr Wardlaw, 44, of Birkenshaw Way, appeared for sentence yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to
producing the class B drug on August 18.

Prosecutor Aidan Higgins said police had recovered ten plants at an immature stage of growth.

He said: “I’m told that if they’d continued to grow they might have been expected to yield £150 worth of cannabis per plant.”

Mr Wardlaw was sentenced to carry out 133 hours of unpaid work in the community.
