Dog walk thug is put behind bars

A DRUNKEN thug who terrorised two complete strangers out walking their dog has been jailed for six months.

Douglas Kay threatened a woman and her daughter while they were out walking their dog at the weekend.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told he approached the pair and told the shocked woman: “I’ll smash your head in”.

Kate Hart, prosecuting, said police were unable to caution and charge Kay after his arrest because he was so intoxicated.

Kay, 32, of Livingston, West Lothian, pleaded guilty to two offences during the Sunday incident. He admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by uttering threats of violence on a footpath near Columbia Avenue, Livingston.

He also admitted stealing alcohol and food from a Scotmid store.

Jailing Kay, Sheriff Donald Ferguson told him: “I’d be failing in my duty if I didn’t sentence you to imprisonment.”
