Doctor who injected wife awaits fate
A DRUG-ADDICTED doctor who injected his wife with heroin has been told he will be sentenced for the offence later this month.
Ashley Sibery, 39, was convicted at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month of culpable and reckless conduct.
The court heard that the GP’s wife had said their marriage would be over unless he sought treatment for his habit.
But she agreed to take what was supposed to be his last fix so she could experience what he felt when he took the drug.
She fell seriously ill at their Edinburgh home and had to be taken to hospital.
Paramedics recognised Mr Sibery, of London Street, as a doctor and he was arrested shortly afterwards by police.
Yesterday, Sheriff Elizabeth Jarvie QC deferred sentence on Mr Sibery until October 23, 2012.
Sheriff Jarvie asked depute procurator fiscal Malcolm Stewart to provide her with more information on that date about the circumstances surrounding the offence.
She told Mr Stewart that she felt there were still “unanswered questions” surrounding the incident.
