Doctor loses uni job over child porn

A LEADING cancer research doctor has been forced out of his University of Edinburgh post after being caught with child pornography on his computer.

Married dad-of-two Dr Dana Faratian, 34, pictured, has been placed on the sex offenders’ register after pleading guilty to a single child porn charge at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month.

Over £150,000 of funding for a three-year colon cancer study led by the medic has now been axed by charity bosses.

Faratian had told colleagues at the university that he had quit for a job in London.

Specialist officers from Lothian and Borders police were acting upon intelligence provided to them by the Child Protection Internet Investigation Unit. They raided his top-floor Newington flat and seized his computer which contained obscene images of children.
