Docks plans 'not going to harm wildlife'
MASSIVE housing and leisure developments in Leith Docks are not likely to harm wildlife, according to Scottish Natural Heritage.
The agency is expected to withdraw its objections to the development, which is near two internationally important areas for birds.
SNH has held discussions with Forth Ports and the city council during a consultation on the development. They persuaded them to modify designs, including lowering building heights and moving a footbridge.
The body says the development can go ahead without affecting the wildlife sites, provided proper measures are now in place.
Forth Ports has applied for permission to develop an area of 144 hectares with houses, flats, and commercial and leisure facilities.

."
