Demo on Irish abortion to be held at Irish consulate

A PROTEST demanding the right to legal abortions in Ireland will be held at the Irish consulate in Edinburgh tomorrow.

The demonstration, part of a day of action at Irish embassies across the world, will call for an immediate change to the law.

It follows the death of Savita Halappanavar, who was denied a termination campaigners claim would have saved her.

Organiser Sinead Daly said women in Ireland should have the right to free, legal and safe abortions. The protest will be held at the consulate in Randolph Street at 5.30pm.
