Delay was snow joke for city holidaymakers

HOLIDAYMAKERS from the Capital were left stranded in Tenerife for more than 30 hours after their plane was severely delayed by snow – in Norwich.

About 150 passengers were due to return home on board the Thomson 1257 flight from Tenerife to Edinburgh on Tuesday afternoon. But the inbound flight, which was scheduled to come from the Norfolk city’s airport, was unable to take off because the runway was icy. Retired David Nivison and partner Roberta Whyte, both 70, of Musselburgh said: “I’d spoken to friends in
Edinburgh so I knew there was no bother with snow there but there was no communication this end. We were gobsmacked when we eventually found out it was because the flight was coming from Norwich.”

A Thomson spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately as a result of
adverse weather conditions the airport closed.”
