Dead glider pilot named by police

A GLIDER pilot who died in a crash during take-off has been named by police.

Mark Dickson, from Troon in Ayrshire, died in the accident at the Scottish Gliding Centre, Portmoak airfield, Kinross, on Tuesday.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash at around 1:30pm and found the 49-year-old pilot in an overturned Nimbus 3 aircraft.

Mr Dickson died at the scene, while no-one else was injured.

The investigation into the accident involves Tayside Police, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch and the Civil Aviation Authority.
