Police were called to Cramond beach this morning

THE body of a man has washed up on the shore of Cramond Beach, police have confirmed.

It is understood officers were called out this morning after being alerted by a member of the public.

A police spokesman said: “Lothian and Borders Police responded to Cramond Island at around 10am on Wednesday 30th January after the body of a man was discovered on the beach.

“Enquiries are now underway to establish the man’s identity and determine the circumstances surrounding his death.”
