Crews battle warehouse fire

FIRE crews last night battled a blaze at a warehouse in Edinburgh.

Around 17 firefighters rushed to Salamander Place at 2.45pm yesterday.

Crews from Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue fought for at least three hours to tackle the blaze at the former Annandale Coach Works in Leith.

Nobody was in the building.

Meanwhile, around 40 firefighters were called to a cottage in East Lothian when flames from a wood burning stove set fire to the house.

Crews were called to Redside Farm Steading, near North Berwick, at around 6:50pm last night to find that the blaze had spread from the ground floor and had broken through the roof.

No-one was in the cottage when crews arrived. It took several hours to bring the blaze under control.
