Crews tackle M8 bus blaze

DOZENS of firefighters rushed to the M8 after a double-decker bus burst into flames.

Fire crews battled the blaze on the westbound stretch of the motorway between junctions 3 and 3A after receiving an emergency call just before 7.30pm yesterday.

Crews said the driver of the bus had pulled the vehicle over on to the hard shoulder after discovering a fire in the engine compartment.

There were no passengers on board at the time and no reports of casualties. The carriageway was closed to traffic for about an hour.
