Council fuel theft claims

POLICE are investigating  allegations that fuel has been stolen from Midlothian Council by its own staff.

The council has received a report of rumours highlighting widespread fuel theft within the local authority. It was allegedly claimed that some staff were stealing red diesel fuel from council premises and selling it on for personal profit.

It was also suggested that staff used fuel cards intended to run council vehicles for their own private use.
