Council aims to improve cemetery service

A CONSULTATION will gather views on the service provided at cemeteries in East Lothian.

The council wants to find what improvements can be made from those who have attended funerals in the county.

Cabinet member for environment, councillor Norman Hampshire, said: “East Lothian Council is responsible for maintaining 37 burial grounds across the county.

“Working in partnership with local undertakers, we aim to provide a sympathetic and understanding customer service during a time of considerable emotional distress. We are asking local residents to let us know their experiences in relation to arranging or attending a funeral, or attending a grave, so we have a clear understanding of our service and whether there are areas we may need to improve.”
