Conan Doyle given stamp of approval
THE campaign to secure Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle the recognition he deserves has been given the stamp of approval – by the Royal Mail.
The Edinburgh-born author is to feature on a new first-class stamp as one of the ten most eminent Britons. It comes amid calls for him to be celebrated in his home city.
Julie Morrison, head of external relations at Royal Mail Group, said: "
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is one of Scotland's famous authors and it is only fitting that his portrait features on these stamps to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth."
