Commuters' satisfaction at all-time low

CUSTOMER satisfaction with Scotland's main train operator has fallen, according to new figures revealed today.

An independent watchdog survey said that First ScotRail's satisfaction rating fell from 86 per cent to 83 per cent, reflecting commuters' frustration at major redevelopment work at Waverley station, a disruptive strike by Network Rail signallers and the closure of Glasgow Central station for engineering work.

The figures are part of a wider dissatisfaction across Britain, with the number of rail passengers reckoning they are getting good value for money now at an all-time low.

Out of the 25,000 commuters surveyed, just 40 per cent now think they are getting good value for money.

First ScotRail played down the drop in its satisfaction ratings, claiming they were now higher than the averages for national and regional operators, at 79 per cent and 82 per cent respectively.
