Co-op fund gives groups £6300 boost

Five groups in Edinburgh and the Lothians have been awarded more than £6300 from The Co-operative’s Community Fund.

The Ripple Project, a community support group, gets £2000 towards the cost of a café support worker; the committee for Poltonhall Gala Day, near Bonnyrigg, gains £1990 towards soft play equipment and advertising; and Stand International, an Edinburgh-based support group for
disadvantaged people, £1400 towards a peer mentoring programme.

Penicuik’s Midlothian Parent Carers nets £500 towards a “therapeutic day”, and arts group North Light Dunbar £500 for workshops.

The Community Fund is created by members of The Co-operative Group who donate all, or part, of their twice-yearly dividend payments. The funds are then shared with local community projects and groups across the country.
