Climber found dead at Glencoe

THE body of a climber has been discovered on a Scottish mountain on which four others died less than two months ago.

The 39-year-old man was found after falling on Bidean Nam Bian, Glencoe.

Glencoe Mountain Rescue and an RAF helicopter were alerted to reports of a missing climber at about 3:20pm yesterday and carried out a search.

Northern Constabulary issued a statement shortly before midnight to say a body had been found. Officers were attempting to inform all next of kin before releasing his identity.

Walkers and climbers have been warned to expect wintery conditions in the hills and mountains this weekend. The Sportscotland Avalanche Information Service has highlighted the return of wintry weather after a recent warmer spell.
